GENERAL RULES FOR LASER ENGRAVING METAL

Laser engraving allows us to work with 2 general types of metal

1. Pre Treated Metal

Pre treated metals include anodized, pre painted or lacquered. In this case the laser will remove the layer of pre treated metal exposing the original surface. Depending on the pre treatment of the metal, laser engraving will create different effects.

2. Non treated (original metal)

Co2 Laser engraving machines cant actually mark original metal surfaces. In these cases we use a special compound to assist in the marking  of the metal.

This allows us to etch the metal and leave a well defined black mark on the surface on the metal.
